Austin played Alvin Blank on the 5th & final season of the Emmy-winning TV series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, now on Prime Video.

Look for his recent work on the HBO series Winning Time, his recurring role on the Hulu show Reasonable Doubt, and in the foreign film First Oscar, playing famed Hollywood producer David O. Selznick.

Austin's recent projects include the lead role in the short film Kanashimi, and supporting roles in The Last Take and the indie feature Daruma. His award-winning film Dead End Drive is still screening at festivals and online. (IMDb)

Born & raised in Brooklyn, New York, AUSTIN BASIS is an actor, writer, producer, and celebrity ambassador for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Shortly after graduating The Actors Studio Drama School with an MFA in Acting, he became a lifetime member of The Actors Studio. There, he's had the privilege of working with Al Pacino, Faye Dunaway, Dianne Wiest & Estelle Parsons; and under the tutelage of Ellen Burstyn, Harvey Keitel, Martin Landau, Arthur Penn, Barbara Bain, Lou Antonio, Lee Grant & Mark Rydell. He now studies and continues to improve his craft at The Actors Studio West in Los Angeles.

 

Austin played head writer Alvin Blank in the 5th & final season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, currently on Prime Video. He is most known for his role as J.T. Forbes on the 4-time People’s Choice Award winning sci-fi drama Beauty And The Beast. He also played series regular Math Rogers on The CW drama Life Unexpected. Austin’s vast film & television experience has allowed him to share the screen with Viola Davis, Larry David, Claire Danes, Harvey Keitel,

Sandra Oh, Vincent D'Onofrio, Christine Baranski, Rachel Brosnahan, Austin Butler,

Hank Azaria, Michael Lerner, and Barry Bostwick - among others. 

 

In addition to his acting work, Austin also co-created and performed in an improv & sketch comedy show in New York City called Mmm… Comedy. He has continued to write & develop ideas with his production company “Behind the Bag!” Productions, like the short film he wrote, executive-produced & starred called The Fear We Share (currently streaming online).

 

Austin also released his first podcast in 2021 called ActorSpeak, available on Apple Podcasts & Spotify. He wrote & published a superhero comic book series in 2018 about kids with disabilities & chronic illnesses called The KINETIX, with his writing partners Dave Maulbeck & Josh Taub.

It’s an epic tale about turning your perceived weaknesses into their greatest strengths, 

and has been adapted into a full-length graphic novel. 

 

An avid poet, Austin published a book of poetry in 2011 called An Actor Without An Audience: Poetry for Artists, Lovers & Everymen (available online). His first children's book, Zoo's On First, co-written with his brother Jeremy Basis & illustrated by Dave Maulbeck, 

is his latest release & is available online at Amazon, BookBaby and Barnes & Noble.

 

He now lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Colleen, and his cat, Daisy.
